Sample RV Operation Manual
RV Water System, Holding Tanks, Campground
Hook-ups
Water:
There are two water systems in the RV. An
onboard system with a 48 gallon storage tank and 12 volt pump. There is also a
city water system that requires a water faucet connection. There is a water hose
connector at the drivers side rear of RV for each system. The connector marked
“city water” is to connect to a faucet. It uses the faucets water and
pressure to deliver water directly to the RV faucets and toilet. There is a
pressure regulator provided that must be connected to either end of the hose.
The connector marked potable water connects to the water hose to fill the 48
gallon water tank. Simply attach the hose and turn on the water to fill the
tank. When the tank is full the water will spill out from underneath the RV. The
level of the tank can be monitored using the monitor panel. To use any water
from the 48 gallon water tank, the water pump must be turned on. The switch to
turn on the water pump is located on the monitor panel. If the water tank is
empty be sure to turn the pump off. Failure to do so will result in a dead
battery and a pump failure.
Holding Tanks:
There are 3 holding tanks to hold waste
waters in the RV. They are located outside underneath the RV. There is a
“dump” valve that must be opened to empty each tank. There is a “dump”
hose stored inside the rear bumper behind the rubber end cap on the drivers
side. To empty the tanks first remove the hose from the bumper. Insert the end
without the plastic fitting into the ground dump tube. Locate the tank outlet on
the RV. It is located at the drivers side rear under the RV near the water hose
connectors. It is a black 4 inch pipe with a black plastic round cover over the
end. Hold the waste hose end with the plastic connector under the cover and
slowly rotate the cover counter clockwise to remove it. The hose will catch any
water from the last time the tank was emptied. Next attach the hose over the
pipe and turn clockwise to secure. After the hose is securely attached, pull the
T handle for the most forward tank(black tank). The sewage will be emptied.
After that tank has finished leave that valve open and open the rear tank. The
rear tank(gray) contains water which is drain water. Next go to the passenger
side of the RV and locate the 3rd valve near the rear of the RV opposite the two
other tanks. Pull that T handle to empty that tank. Next go inside the RV and
flush toilet several times to wash the tank out. Next wait a few minutes to
allow the tanks to finish draining then push T handles in to close all 3 valves.
Next wait a few minutes to allow hose to finish draining then remove hose, wash
it out with water and store in the bumper. Next attach cover on the drain
outlet.
Full Hook Up at Campground:
If you have a sewage hook up at your
campsite, you may leave the waste hose attached. The drain valves should be
closed until waste accumulates in the tanks before emptying. This will prevent
tank clogs. Tanks should be emptied before drains back up and toilet over fills.
Levels of tanks can be monitored at the monitor panel.
Toilet:
The toilet can be used in a similar manner to a standard home toilet.
There is a 25 gallon tank attached to the toilet to hold the waste. There must
be some water in the toilet bowl at all times. The water in the bowl is the
barrier that stops the odor from coming through the holding tank. Be sure only a
small amount of water is in the toilet while vehicle is in motion to avoid
spills. To add water to the bowl lift up on the foot pedal. To flush and rinse
the bowl push down on the foot pedal. An RV holding tank chemical should be
added to the waste tank. Our RV’s have a built in chemical dispenser that
automatically adds the chemicals to the tank.
Water Heater:
The water heater is powered by L.P. gas.
There is an electronic igniter to light the heater. There is a switch marked
water heater on the monitor panel. The heater should only be used while RV is
parked. To ignite the heater flip the switch on. The small light above the
switch will light for about ten seconds until the heater ignites. When the small
light goes out and the switch is lit, the water heater is running. It takes
about 15 minutes to get hot water. After a shower wait about 10-15 minutes to
allow the water heater to recover. The water heater should be turned off while
not using to avoid wasting L.P. gas. Water heater switch must be turned off if
water tank is empty.
